Arsenal lose one of their most influential stars at critical time

Arsenal will lose one of their most influential midfielders in England international Jack Wilshere for at least another 6 weeks, reports the Daily Star. The 23-year old reportedly suffered a hairline fracture on his left-foot after being on the receiving end of a tough challenge from Liverpool and Denmark centre-back Daniel Agger in England’s friendly against the Danes on Wednesday.
The news of the injury broke just a day after Wilshere reassured England and Arsenal fans that his foot was okay and that scans revealed no damage. Arsenal ran their own tests on Thursday morning though, only to find that the midfielder had suffered a hairline fracture on his foot.
A statement from the club then revealed that Wilshere would require upto 6 weeks of rehab before coming back into the first team fold. Arsenal will therefore miss him for their crucial league and FA Cup run-in in March and the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is likely to feel aggrieved at the fact the England manager Roy Hodgson decided to play Wilshere for an extra 45 minutes after suffering the blow to his foot.
Wilshere is now likely to miss the Gunners’ crucial games against Tottenham, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Everton over the next month but is expected to be fit in time before Roy Hodgson announces the England squad on May 12th.
